Website Marketing. Where to begin.
You have the service (or product), you have the process in place, you are ready to get cracking and launch online.
But where do I start? Here are a few simple pointers to giving your brand new website the start it deserves.
- Hosting – Find a reliable host that is based in your target country. If you wish to sell to the UK, ensure your host is based in the UK. Reliable hosts are not hard to find but cost effective support is. So choose wisely. You can read my free website domain hosting guide here. (Opens a new window). If you are using a free hosting account, you need to get your own hosting account away from this free type. Your websites IP will be associated with all others in the neighbourhood and this includes sites that could well have their IP C block banned. This in turn means you will struggle with SERPS.
- Make sure your web pages are relevant and easily found. If your user cannot find them, what chance has the search engine got?
- Entice your visitors in. Do not place all your content on the front page. Grab their attention, make them want to lurk around and click into your website.
- Copywriting and the power of the word is vital. Ensure that your content is both engaging and well written. Do not try and write war and peace on 1 page, break it up. Add more pages. Above all, make sure that you are writing copy that reads well.
- Keyword density is a massive topic but to kick off, just remember your prime objective. That is to sell what is on your page. Keep the keywords in mind when you write and observe my 3 simple watch words…
RELEVANCE, PROXIMITY, FREQUENCY
- Relevance – Make sure your meta’s are relevant, your page title is relevant and the copy relates to the relevant key phrase.
- Proximity – This on is a no brainer but is really ill observed by many. The king phrase should be in your title, at the top of the page and should also live in the first H1 tags and beyond…
- Frequency – Make sure you get your keyword/phrase in as many times as is humaly readable.
This is just a starter for 10 so please feel free to bookmark my site now as more pearls will be added.
Thank you for stopping by.
